Food Safety Training and Certification

Food safety emphasizes the importance of preventing foodborne illness and ultimately an outbreak in the food service and retail industry. Our trainers will prepare participants to demonstrate improved food safety practices in their operations.

ServSafe® Food Safety Manager Certification

Understanding the risks and ways to prevent foodborne illness will protect customers and businesses from harm.

Become a Certified Food Protection Manager and become more valuable to your current or future employer or a highly qualified manager for your own operation.  Food and customer safety are top priorities.  Many municipalities require that every food service operation employ a Certified Manager who supervises all food preparation activities during all hours of operation.  Their responsibilities not only include food safety, but staff training as well.   Learn to prevent an outbreak of food-borne illness in your operation while earning your mandatory state certification.

Successful completion of the course and final exam will provide you with a Food Protection Manager Certification and wallet ID card valid for 5 years. Certification is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) - Conference for Food Protection (CFP).Protection (CFP).

ServSafe® Food Handler Certification

A less intensive training and certification than the Manager Certification, ServSafe Food Handler provides a basic overview of the principles of food safety for all non-manger food handlers of an operation.

This course has been proven to effectively reinforce employee programs and adherence to state/local regulations, and it can help make your operation safer and more efficient.  By doing so, you reduce the likelihood of your operation becoming the epicenter of a foodborne illness, improve customer satisfaction, and improve employee retention. Protect your customers, your brand, your business, and your profits by increasing professional skills, competency, and compliance throughout all levels of your operation by instilling proper food safety practices.

The five sections are Basic Food Safety, Personal Hygiene, Cross-contamination and Allergens, Time & Temperature, & Cleaning and Sanitation.

After completion of the course, the ServSafe Food Handler assessment is a 40 question, non-proctored exam. Students must achieve at least a 75% score to receive the ServSafe Food Handler Certificate of Achievement, signifying that they successfully earned a certificate.

HACCP

HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) is an internationally recognized method of identifying and managing food safety-related risk and, when central to an active food safety program, can provide your customers, the public, and regulatory agencies assurance that a food safety program is well managed.

HACCP is a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product.

Today, many of the world’s best manufacturers and vendors use the system as a basis for their food safety management programs and for compliance with GFSI audit schemes.

Bob and Plum Safety conducted opening school lunch Allergen and HACCP training for my staff.  He was engaging and presented the information in a way that was easy for my staff to understand.  The feedback I got from them was very positive.  They feel invested as part of the school lunch team and our year is off to a great start!

This is 3rd time renewing my servsafe.  Plum Safety gave the best class I have ever been to.  Full of information and made sure all my questions were answered.  Kept in contact with me and about test dates and helped me get into a class that work with my schedule.  I would highly recommended them to anyone who needs to take the test.

Our brewpub restaurant recently contracted the services of Plum Safety for a ServSafe Alcohol training class. The trainers were very professional, engaging and presented the content in a fun and compelling manner. Role-playing was particularly helpful as it took us out of our comfort zone and confronted us all with situations we always hoped we could avoid, but prepared us for them if and when they occur. All front of house staff were taught how to spot intoxicated guests and to work as a team to assure the safety of the guest, other patrons, our employees and the public in general. They learned how to prevent our guests from becoming intoxicated past the legal limits, how to deal with unruly guests, how to prevent underage drinkers and how these situations can directly affect our business, their paychecks, and our local community. Sometimes the upfront & the out-of-pocket expense of a safe alcohol service course seems cumbersome, but the value provided and the long-term benefits and savings provided by Plum Safety is beyond measure. Plum Safety ServSafe Alcohol training is a must for anyone who wants to run a legitimate and everlasting business serving alcohol.
